Meet Damo
Damo found surfing in his 20s and never really
looked back. With a natural pull toward
making things, shaping boards became
part of the obsession. These days, he
can’t look at a wave without thinking
about the board it deserves.
He lives by one simple rule:
If you don’t stoke it, nobody else will.
The Meaning Behind the Name
The Sticks Surf Co. is really just a reflection of where I’m from. I live out in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne — “the sticks” — far from the coastline but completely hooked on surfing. For me, surfing has never been about convenience. It’s about waking up in the hills, loading the car, and making that long trek out to the coast because the pull of the ocean is too strong to ignore.
Living in the sticks means every surf takes effort, but that effort creates a different kind of stoke — a drive to get out there, chase the waves, and make the absolute most of every session. That’s what this brand is built on. It’s for the people who don’t live by the beach, but live for it.
